Do you ever wish you could go back in time?  Some people want to go back in time for many reasons. Most people talk about wanting to go back in time to fix mistakes they have made in their lives or to take back things they said to someone important in their lives.  Some people want to go back in time so they could see loved ones who have passed on.  Other people want to go back in time to live and see what it’s like to live in a different era in life.  There are also some who want to travel back in time because maybe their lives aren’t all that great and they just want to start over.

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to go back in time and I had even tried making a time machine.  My imaginations as a little girl were crazy sometimes and I thought a cardboard box was my time machine.  My first thoughts of a time machine came when my father’s mother, which is my grandma, had died.  That was my first ever experience with death and with someone I loved passing away.  I was really young and didn’t quite understand or grasp the meaning of death. That’s when I would “pretend” I had a time machine that would take me back to the time when I was around my grandma a lot.  A young girl and her crazy imagination, what can you say.

But now when I think of time machine I automatically think the 60s, 50s, 20s, and even all the way back when dinosaurs roamed this earth.

Yikes! Maybe not that far back!

I always imagine what it would have been like growing up in a time my grandfather and grandmother did.  What it was like growing up in their time and also experiencing the history that was happening at that time.  I think our parents and grandparents are the strongest hard working people that are here.  They didn’t have the technology we do now to make their lives easier.  They did most of the work with their hands and did hard labor themselves, things we take for granted nowadays.

The one main reason I would like to have a time machine is to see how people, especially my ancestors, lived.  I want to experience how they survived when the Europeans and Spaniards came and invaded their lands.  I want to see how my ancestors survived the small pox, measles, and other diseases that the Europeans and Spaniards brought.  It is hard to imagine those types of things that your ancestors went through and survived.  I am grateful for their sacrifices because if it wasn’t the things they did, I wouldn’t be here.  I think if people took the time to realize what their parents, grandparents, and people before them experienced, they would be more appreciative of what they have now.  Instead of complaining about a low battery, being bored, or even school.

But I find history fascinating and it would be awesome to go back in time to experience it in person.  Time machine and going back in time may be impossible but if we could, I would be there in a heartbeat.
